Paul MacDonald-Taylor
Head of Film + Visual ArtPaul has been at Eden Court since January 2000. He begun as trainee projectionist, when the cinema was entirely 35mm. The first film he saw in the old Riverside screen, on his second day, was Ken Loach's Kes. He began programming the cinema in 2005 and the gallery spaces in 2018. He's lucky that the only thing he knows how to do; watching films, is his job. Hearing from people attending the cinemas at Eden Court about the films they're watching is his highlight of working at Eden Court.
His favoured seats are B12 in the Playhouse and E6 in La Scala. His love of films can be traced to sneaking downstairs and watching films on BBC2 and Channel 4 late at night while his parents slept, films with subtitles were best as that meant muting the TV with less chance of getting caught.
Paul's 10 favourite films he's seen at Eden Court are; The Apartment, Caramel, Climates, The Colour of Pomegranates, Games of Love and Chance, Head-On, In The Mood For Love, Memories of Underdevelopment, Monsoon Wedding andShow Me Love. Sadly, he is yet to see his favourite film, Point Break, at Eden Court.
