Produced by Dogstar Theatre in partnership with Eden Court and Playwrights’ Studio Scotland, SPARK is a new four-day festival celebrating the talent and power of playwrights, poets and performers from the Highlands and Islands and beyond.

The festival has four exciting and distinctive strands:

Script Sessions

Script-in-hand play-readings followed by a Q+A with the audience, with new plays from Anna Whealing, Kenny Boyle, Anna Halas, Alastair Cording and Tunde Euba.

Scratch Sessions

Writers from the Highlands and Islands were invited to submit brand new play ideas and extracts. We’re presenting eight of them over four sessions. Each playwright will work with a director and a few actors for a day, then share what they’ve come up with!

Speakout Sessions

Is there such a thing as Highland Theatre? Can a young person have a career in the theatre industry? Why produce international theatre? Join a panel of experts and industry professionals, including international guests, as they engage in lively debate, and get an opportunity to ask them questions too.

Ceilidh Sessions

On Friday and Saturday night, join us for celebratory evenings of live music and spoken word from local artists.
